Our story

Why "Sando & Kō"?

The name does three jobs at once.

1. Sando & Co.

"Sando" is what Japan calls a sandwich. Say the name out loud and you get Sando & Co., a sandwich company.

2. Kō is for Koji

Koji is our Shiba Inu mascot, our Head of Quality Control, and the reason the bread keeps disappearing.

3. 公, the good-dog honorific

公 is read "kō." It's the affectionate honorific in the name of Hachikō, the famously loyal dog of Tokyo's Shibuya Station. On our badge it's Koji's seal of approval, and it's why we call ourselves The Loyal Sandwich Shop.

The rest of the story gets written when we open in Greenville, Delaware.
